Michael has been working with clay for over 50 years. He earned his MFA from Southern Illinois University, in Carbondale, in 1979. He has set up pottery studios and worked in them in: Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and Wisconsin. For the past 25 years he’s been teaching ceramics at Carroll University, in Waukesha, Wisconsin. He has also taught at Penland School for Arts and Crafts (in Penland, NC), at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, (in Gatlinburg, TN), at the Appalachian Center for Craft (in Smithville, TN), and at Adamah Art Studios, (in Dodgeville, WI).
His work has been included in numerous group shows throughout the country. He has had solo exhibitions, locally, at: the Marion Gallery (at Mt. Mary University), the Bliss and Rowe Galleries (at Carroll University), the Caggio Gallery (in Milwaukee), and the Ploch Gallery (in the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center, Brookfield
Michael has acted as juror for a number of exhibitions and art fairs in the area. He continues to teach at Carroll University and to show and sell his sculptural and functional pieces in galleries and at art festivals throughout the Midwest.
