Ideally, Host artists could accommodate at least one other “guest” artist at their studio.
Host artists will be asked to provide a diagram or description of how they plan on arranging their studio to accommodate their work and the guest artists’ work. Guest artists can be located indoors or outdoors. Envision the equivalent of a 10’ x 10’ booth for each artist (show booths outdoors would certainly be acceptable).
Other show information
The MKE Studio Tour will be a “curated” event. The committee and the WI Craft would like to give as many studios in Milwaukee County (and outside guest artists) to participate as possible while maintaining a strong quality of work. Spaces will be limited by the number of host artists/studios accepted into the tour.
pre-arranging “host” and “guest” artist pairings is not necessary, but encouraged.
Hosts will be notified for guest artist approval on a continuing basis.
Host Artists will be accepted on a continual basis after the committee has approved their location and work.
a $175 “booth fee” will be required to confirm your participation in the MKE Studio Tour. You will be e-mailed instructions when accepted.
How applicants are selected
The participant fee places this studio tour firmly in a “middle range” between farmers markets and school/church craft shows and “High-end” shows like Lakefront Festival of the Arts, Morning Glory Fine Art Fair and the Third Ward Art Festival. We envision The Tour as another way for established artists to sell their work and a way for new artists to get their feet wet at a larger professional art show. This also provides the newer artists with inherent mentorship from the more seasoned artists. We strive to include a diverse group of fine craft mediums and artists. While The Tour is not a “juried” event, it is curated. The committee bases their decisions whether or not to include an artist based on the quality of the their work and the spaces available.
Liability Insurance
All Host artists/studios should have liability insurance in place.
All guest artists should also have liability insurance. A host artist’s liability typically will not cover the guest artists.
You can obtain annual insurance (~$265) or date/show specific (~$39) insurance for reasonable rates from ACT Insurance.
