Marv Bollman

Marv grew up on a farm in southern Minnesota. After graduating high school he earned and associate degree in Architectural Drafting and Design, and a BS in Industrial Arts Education, and later a MS in Curriculum and Instruction while teaching at The Milwaukee School of Engineering. During this time an interest in woodworking turned into a hobby. After joining the National Woodturners Association, an opportunity arose to attend a week long turning class at the Anderson Ranch in Snowmass Colorado that solidified the interest into a passion for turning wood. Since retiring from teaching, Marv has taught turning classes at a local woodworking store as well as private lessons. Turning of salvaged wood destined for the shredder or burning became a primary interest. It is the shaping of an ordinary piece of wood, exposing the hidden inner beauty along with its story, and giving it a new life as a functional or decorative piece of art that provides satisfaction as well as inspiration for the next piece.
