Karen Elwing is a Wisconsin oil painter inspired by the coastal beauty of Door County and the rural landscapes of the Midwest. Using layered oils, expressive brushwork, and visible underpainting, she creates paintings filled with light, texture, atmosphere, and a sense of nostalgia. A graduate of UW–Milwaukee with a BFA in Painting and Drawing, Karen previously owned galleries in Door County for eight years and continues to create artwork that celebrates the emotion and atmosphere that make ordinary places feel meaningful and memorable.
