Jan Jahnke

Strong compositions with rich surfaces and highly detailed textures are a trademark of Jan Jahnke's work. She applies multiple layers of ink, edits them and applies more ink. Stenciled areas are highlighted with a combination of materials that may include pencil, crayon, watercolor and metallic inks. She continues this process of spontaneity and editing seeking an expressive, emotional reaction to the beauty and energy of the natural world. Jahnke earned a BFA from the Milwaukee Institute of Art And Design and now works full time in her Shorewood studio.
