New to Milwaukee, Francesco and Rebecca Carra work together in their home studio creating wheel-thrown, functional pottery. With over 10 years of production pottery experience in Italy, Francesco does the bulk of the throwing work while Rebecca assists with glazing large batch orders and utilizes her 14 years as a professional photographer to share the work online. Each design choice they make - from the size of a handle to the bottom of a bowl - is informed by creating beautiful moments within all of our everyday necessities; encouraging us all to slow down from our typical frenetic pace. Their pieces are crafted with intention and best enjoyed over long, slow meals as they work to bring a small piece of “la dolce vita” to the States. Taking linguistic liberties with the translation, their studio name, Carra Terra, can be loosely translated to "beloved earth" - what better name for a ceramics studio!
