Erika Mock is a Swiss born textile artist who uses recycled materials to sculpt zero waste art to wear. Her Textiles for Body and Soul are free spirited, richly colored accessories (wings!) to wake your body and perceptions. Her work is influenced by a background in psychology, music therapy, fiber art, horticulture, and off grid living; It is inspired by nature and explores the spirit of deeper relationship within ourselves... 'Who are we?' Is there such a thing as a garment that connects to and can draw out our essence so we feel more essentially ourselves? As our second skin and body shelter, how does clothing nourish and sustain? There is an alchemy in the re-cycle into a new future for the cloth. The color and unknown stories collect moments, set both a structure and a freedom for the new, but re-claimed, sculptural textile to transform with the wearer. Erika lives in a renovated caboose in the woodlands of NW Wisconsin and because of the pandemic is in the process of moving her studio there. For 30 years she's been traveling to juried art festivals around the country. This nomadic process of bringing art to the everyday feeds her need to work with the arts as advocacy for the imagination. Her mission is to catalyze the spark of our human potential. Via textiles and art to explore sustainable practices and interconnected vision to create personal and social change.
