Dorothee Pfundt was fascinated by the clay throwing process she witnessed as a child. Shaping the clay in a fluid motion to create functional pottery that can be enjoyed through every day use, is her primary goal. Nature is her continuing source for inspiration whether its color, shape or texture. Many of her pieces include leave or flower imprints, letting you hold on to happy memories from the woods or garden from seasons long gone.
Her ceramic line in spring green with a splash of turquoise “water” bring a moment of happiness to your table, memories of spring or the care free summer vacation.
Dorothe began making pottery in the US in 2008, many years after a weeklong class on the pottery wheel in the Lueneburger Heath, Germany. Continuing practice and educational opportunities from various great teachers in south eastern Wisconsin prepared her for a two-year pottery residency in Door County. This experience still informs her pottery today while glaze and texture work evolves to capture nature in new ways.
