Christine has spent most of her life on the shores of Lake Michigan in Northeast Wisconsin. Currently she is nestled along the edge of the forest along the banks of the East Twin River in Kewaunee County. Her work is centered on animals and fantasy, much of her inspiration comes from her surrounding environment, wandering imagination, and tales of myths and folklore.
Christine’s newest body of work repurposes discarded cabinet doors. Each piece starts off with a charcoal sketch, followed by filling the the subject with white gesso and then drawing with various markers. Enhancements are made with metallic gold paint or gold flake. Each piece is then finished with black charcoal shading to make it appear as though it is paper popping off the surface. I attempt to reuse unwanted items by utilizing old wooden cabinet doors or other repurposed surfaces as my substrate.
