Ann Mory Wydeven received a Bachelor’s Degree from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Masters of Fine Art from Rhode Island School of Design. She is a member of the Fine Art Faculty at Alverno College. As a mentoring artist, she worked with emerging artists at Redline Milwaukee, an urban artist residency program for 8 years. Ann has extensive experience working within K-12 public schools, and within the nonprofit sector creating public art. She has been awarded grants and honors for her public art, both regionally and internationally. Her commission work can be seen in commercial and residential locations in Wisconsin and Illinois.
Wydeven is a story teller, mosaic colorist, and naturalist who works primarily in terracotta clay, mosaic and concrete. She is the sole proprietor of AMW Sculpture Studio for over 30 years in the production of sculpture, ceramic pottery and mosaic murals. Her work embraces folk traditions of the craft object, with surfaces of pencil, mosaic and found object materials, adding layers of texture, color and meaning to ordinary shapes. The vessels are metaphorical and mythical artifacts representing personal stories that define time, memory and the creative experience.
