Gwen Granzow Fine Art
Host artist at 1) Gwen Granzow Fine Art
Her mom was a true artist, her dad an engineer. Both gave her a firm grounding in DIY, which has had a huge influence on her willingness to attempt almost anything creative. She sold her first works of art at the age of nine: clay pendants with peace signs for $1 in her mom’s ceramics booth at art fairs. By the time she was in her teens, she was showing her ceramic creations and mixed media collages at juried exhibitions throughout the Midwest. She earned a BFA in graphic design and entered the business world as a graphic designer...but she’s been honing her fine art skills all the while, adding abstract acrylic painting about 12 years ago. Her paintings and mixed media pieces have depth, structure and texture along with impact, energy and often a bit of whimsy. She combines the influences from her many experiments, and professional experience, to create unique and varied artwork in acrylics, mixed media and metals.
